People have differing ideas of how they would love to spend a lazy afternoon.  For me, the best thing I could do would be to create something pretty for my home. If it is inexpensive and clever and if it borders on a genius idea, all the better.  Here are some I would love to share.

Each day you write a line about what happened and the year.  Use it year after year and keep track of life’s best moments.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!!! It's a daily calendar that can be reused each year and gets better the longer you use it. Each day you write the year and something that happened that day like, "(Child's name) took her first steps." Imagine how neat it would be in 10 years.


Cover your utility box with a birdhouse.  Just hope that the box is sitting straight!

Create a tablet holder for the kitchen.  Looks like a cutting board, a scrabble tile holder, and a wooden wedge glued/screwed to the back of the cutting board.

Need a chalk holder for your chalkboard wall?  Use upside down drawer pulls.

Need a cake plate for a garden party?  Use a flower pot, a drainage saucer and some glue like E-6000.

Like to use tea lights but you are not fond of the metal  candle holders?  Use decorative tape available in craft stores.

Want a wooden flower vase?  Use a large drill bit and insert a container with flowers.
