People have differing ideas of how they would love to spend a lazy afternoon. For me, the best thing I could do would be to create something pretty for my home. If it is inexpensive and clever and if it borders on a genius idea, all the better. Here are some I would love to share.
Want to have a fireplace stacked full of wood?
Bet you never thought of this:
Create words/art with brass push pins on foam core in a frame.
Next, we have a genius idea…not mine. Conceal a cable box.
Each day you write a line about what happened and the year. Use it year after year and keep track of life’s best moments.
Cover your utility box with a birdhouse. Just hope that the box is sitting straight!
Create a tablet holder for the kitchen. Looks like a cutting board, a scrabble tile holder, and a wooden wedge glued/screwed to the back of the cutting board.
Need a chalk holder for your chalkboard wall? Use upside down drawer pulls.
Need a cake plate for a garden party? Use a flower pot, a drainage saucer and some glue like E-6000.
Like to use tea lights but you are not fond of the metal candle holders? Use decorative tape available in craft stores.
Want a wooden flower vase? Use a large drill bit and insert a container with flowers.

Want an expensive looking hanging topiary? Use the frame from a paper lantern and wait for the ivy to fill it in. Genius!
Want to make some children’s art using their handprints. Bet you haven’t seen this!
Repurpose old encyclopedias to look like wonderful antique books. Wish I hadn’t thrown our encyclopedias away. I will be watching for some at a yard sale!
That’s all for today. I shall return with more genius ideas. Surely there is at least one around here that I have created! I will look for one. Create and be happy!
