Edward Postiff Interiors in Michigan was featured on the bog, Hooked on Houses a short time ago. I liked the design so much that I visited his site and then liked his work even more. Maybe it is because I would love to have a lake house, or maybe I love the monochromatic quiet colors and collected design look in this Michigan lake house. Enjoy!
Imagine driving up to this welcoming entry for a quiet weekend or a family holiday. Maybe you would be lucky enough to live her the year round.
The lake in the back yard is beautiful.
Hardwood floors, light and airy, white walls, white orchids….divine!
Rain or shine, I can see myself relaxing and reading here.
Add a splash of turquoise, a striped rug, tufted ottoman, beautiful print on the pillows and a white kitchen. Lovely!
The dark wood on the island and the table ground the space. Do you love the settees pulled up to the table? I do!
The island looks like a piece of furniture and the butcher block top and pierced tin inserts in the doors make it more antique looking. Perfect for a lake house!
The panty is stunning. It is like a walk in china cabinet. Notice the arched doors.
The display shelf over the stove is a great way to display seasonal collectibles.
Upon closer look, there is room for food items on each side.
I have never had a pot filler over my range. I wonder if I would really use it that much?
Notice the arched top over the shelves next to the refrigerator. It mimics the arch in the pantry doors.
Bedroom and sitting room with a lake view. A-h-h-h-!
The Bombay style chest with granite top and under mount sinkare special.
With a lake right outside your back door you would need a large laundry room. This one is also attractive.
The gathered curtain and antique looking sink are a nod to the style of the house. I wonder if the sink is a period piece or a new one made to look old?
This entry gives you a bench to sit on while you remove your sandy shoes.
I might not make it any farther than the porch. Although, the lake does look so nice!
The shingle siding makes me think of Martha’s Vineyard homes.
The back of the house is as attractive as the front. Love the dormers.
Well, for now I have officially decided that I might rather have a lake house than a beach house. But then again, tomorrow, I will most likely change my mind. Any house is perfect if you have your family and friends with you!
Create and be happy!
