Biblical Magi, Christmas, Fontanini, Italy, nativity, Silent Night
When I was a little girl I spent a lot of time lying on the floor under the Christmas tree while looking at the manger set. I marveled at how the lights played down through the branches and shone on the baby Jesus. I looked at the donkey and the cow and wondered what they were thinking as they looked out at the shepards and the sheep and upon Mary and Joseph and Jesus. Some habits never change. I still love looking at the nativity. Now, we have a beautiful one that my husband brought home from Italy. The Fontanini company, established in Italy in 1908, makes THE most beautiful figures and they are all hand painted. A few years ago, we were at a store and Marco Fontanini was there signing the special edition figure for that year. I love to say, “Marco Fontanini.” It makes me feel like I speak Italian!
Now, our granddaughter, Tabitha, has a Fontanini nativity set of her own. We add a new piece every year. Her mother tells us that she loves to be on the floor and play with the figures.
This will be my last post until after the first of the year, but I will leave you with a peek at our Fontanini nativity set. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Take a break from the rush and try to look at your tree or your nativity set through the eyes of a child.
You might try humming, “Silent Night,” for a multi-media presentation.
…and the Wise Men are on their way…
Merry Christmas to all! Create and be happy!
